When we talk about philosophy we need to be careful. Because it is easy to get it all wrong. But what is a writer who cannot communicate his philosophy to his readers.
Here’s my attempt:
- I’m a writer
- I’m a marketing writer
- I help you multiply your sales / leads
Simply put, I write for a response. Any response. It may be increased leads, sales, eyeballs, traffic, brand awareness or any other response. My goals are to deliver as much joy and gratification to my reader and simultaneously increase my client’s profits directly or indirectly.
I acknowledge my successes and failures in the past. I also confess I’m a student for life of internet marketing and response boosting and persuasive writing.
My Mantra
Save the World from Mediocre Output - There's a Better Way
That's my mantra, yes! Many international clients have a perception that Indian content and copy writers are mediocre stuff. And frankly speaking, they are right about most of the people they are talking about.
There's a better way than just "writing content" or "developing websites". My mission is to support and contribute in my client's business growth and multiply their income. Having seen the power of writing and persuasion in action consistently I know that I can add a lot of value in my client's marketing department.
Research and originality are the 2 cornerstones of my working philosophy. I'm a rigid follower of anti-plagiarism movement and I encourage all my clients to run my output through COPYSCAPE or any other plagiarism tool.
Network Philosophy
My other service -- website design and development -- requires me to involve other professionals in a project. I work with a network of designers, branding experts, PR professionals, software programmers etc whose quality of work I vouch for.
I believe in transparency hence even though I'll be the single point of client contact, clients can have a chat or discussion with any of the professionals involved in their projects. My colleagues are my equals and sometimes better than I am.
My teammates in a website design and development team work have independent careers: some are working for multinational companies and some are self-employed like I am. Everyone is equal.
3 Other Points
- Besides my work, I spend at least 2 hours a day devouring new research material, case studies, reports and anything that comes with a valuable lesson in marketing and persuasive writing
- I also work on the basis of selection. I won’t take up assignments that I cannot deliver. Last thing I’d want to do is waste a fellow professional’s precious time in understanding, negotiating and then making her wait endlessly
- Lastly, as a self-employed professional, my client’s success is my success
Inspiration for Life
2 quotes have had a lasting effect on my working philosophy:
A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus:
1. What am I trying to say?
2. What words will express it?
3. What image or idiom will make it clearer?
4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?
-- George Orwell
People don't want to be "marketed TO"; they want to be "communicated WITH."
-- Flint McGlaughlin
These words have always guided my writing and indeed every piece of communication I create. |
