Certain requirements of building a corporate website and why you should make sure you do not commit these mistakes
Proponents of video marketing (myself included) can end the year with a satisfying grin.
2009 is the year we will be vindicated!
Positive signs about video marketing have been floating around for quite some time.
But who’d have thunk YouTube would beat Yahoo! so soon?
So as we say goodbye to 2008 we shall remember it as the year when YouTube beat Yahoo! to become the second largest “search engine” after Google.
Of course, Youtube is not a search engine per se but that's immaterial. For now, YouTube has given a stern warning to all businesses: "it's time you get smart about video marketing, that's what your audience wants."
Which is true, given the number of videos viewed (by US viewers) in Q3 2008 increased 45% over the videos viewed in Q3 2007.
A 45% year-on-year increase is definitely not a joke. To substantiate the rise in seriousness about video marketing I have put together two more developments that support video marketing's rise.
Marketing Sherpa
The resourceful marketing portal has been providing some good dope on email, search and other online marketing tactics in its annual Benchmark reports for many years.
And now, Marketing Sherpa has announced the launch of the first ever video marketing benchmark report 2009.
This is quite a strong development in the rise of video marketing
PermissionTV
In a survey by online video platform, PermissionTV, over 60% of senior-level decision makers polled admitted video marketing as a key area of focus in 2009.
When asked how online video can support their customer engagement activities, a whopping 71% stated videos would help build brand awareness
Needn’t be Expensive
Videos needn’t be expensive at all. They need to be professional and adhere to all the set standards of a good marketing communications piece. But that does not they’ll be expensive.
Now, as a person who has done videos for video marketing campaign I can start off on a sales pitch on how I can provide you with cost-effective videos but let’s keep that for a different page.
From personal experience I have gathered that videos (on video sites or on your site) do work in generating traffic and / or leads.
Go For It!
2009 is going to be the year where the online space will be flooded with more digital content than ever. Smarties are realizing the value of videos in the web space.
It’s time, as a smart businessman, you started to think about video marketing as an essential marketing tool than a luxury.
Don't get comfortable in the space of text-only optimization. Try your hand at multimedia SEO.
For instance, YouTube offers the luxury of meta tags, tracking and "dofollow" (only in the Recent Activity section, rest all links are "nofollow"). What else would a dedicated, seasoned SEO professional need from a site that is now the unofficial TOP 2 search engine!?
A word of encouragement:
Of course, it is different from traditional SEO. The planning, budget, conceptualizing, scripting, encoding, hosting, Video Site Maps is different. But cost-effective help on this is always round the corner.
What do you stand to lose if you don’t: oh just a few visitors / leads.. headed to your competition!
